London, 1962. Not one but two teenage girls - GINGER & ROSA - are inseparable. They skip school together, speak about love, religion and politics and also dream about lives bigger than their mothers' domesticity. But the growing risk of atomic war casts a shadow over their life. Ginger (Elle Fanning) is drawn to poetry as well as protest, while Rosa (Alice Englert) performances Ginger how to smoke cigarettes, kiss boys as well as pray. Simultaneously rebel against their mothers: Rosa's single mum, Anoushka (Jodhi May), and Ginger's frustrated painter mother, Natalie (Christina Hendricks). Meanwhile, Ginger's pacifist father, Roland (Alessandro Nivola) looks a romantic, bohemian figure to the girls. Your man stimulates Ginger's 'Ban-the-Bomb' activism, even while Rosa begins to take a very different interest in him. As Ginger's father and mother battle as well as fall apart, Ginger finds psychological sanctuary having a gay few, both called Mark (Timothy Spall as well as Oliver Platt), and their American friend, the poet Bella (Annette Bening). At long last, of the Cuban Missile Crisis escalates - and also it appears the world itself may started to an end - the lifelong friendship of the two girls is shattered. Ginger clutches at one hope; if or when she may help conserve the world from extinction, possibly she too will survive this minute of individual devastation. (c) A24.
